We’re on the same wave length with five things today! Also I FEEL this deeply about what to do when the kids are at school and wondering who I am and how to spend my time. That’s me this year and I’m feeling very unsettled still three weeks in.

Five things! That's funny we were both thinking along the same lines!

This is so good! I loved the picture of the tractor lights in the field just before your son was born. I may have to try this essay format too.

I love this so much, Stacy. Like, it may be one of my favorite things you've ever written. I kept highlighting favorite sentences to paste down here but there were too many.

My house will be loud and chaotic for quite some time still, but goodness, thinking about the impending silence to come is always so bittersweet.

Also, hair. No one’s beating down my door asking for a tutorial either 🫣

Haha! Same!

And yes, it's definitely a bittersweet feeling. Thankfully, I'm not quite there yet. But I know it will be here soon.

It's best to hide it in a back room. ;)

Oh my goodness this is stunning. I too am terrible at doing my daughter’s hair! And all of point 2 I feel. Loved every word.

Thank you, Lindsay!! Why is doing hair so hard?! Haha.

So beautiful, Stacy. I relate to the tension of craving-and being terrified by-silence so much. Thanks for this reflection. And happy birthday to your son and cheers to 9 years of motherhood to you! ❤️❤️

Beautiful, Stacy! Also, I have *four* girls and I’m still so bad at doing hair!! My oldest two did dance for nine years, and so not only did I have to do their hair, I had to do it for recitals. 🫠🫠🫠 They both got really good at doing their own hair at a young age. 😆

This makes me feel better. Ha! It just comes so naturally to some people (like my sister!). I'm hoping that Allie is good at it, and can do Nora's hair in the future.

I relate to the hair thing so much!! My 12-year-old does a better job fixing my 6-year-old’s hair than I do! Maybe I need to spend some time on YouTube as well. :)

I was listening to a devotional on my way to the dentist this morning, and it talked about embracing silence because it’s in the silence that we hear God. I am going to ponder that today. There is so much noise keeping us distracted from hearing His voice! Who knows what He will tell you in your silent hours when your kids are away from home.

There are definitely some videos that say they are easy that I raise my eyebrow to. They do not look easy to me! I like this woman's short videos, most of them are fairly easy! Although I still need to practice more!

So true about embracing silence. I too often am trying to avoid silence (reading blog posts/social media/podcasts), but then crave silence at the same time. It's weird. Thanks for those thoughts!

Oh man I yearn for days on my own (I'll get so much done!) and then when I do get the opportunity, even for a few hours, the line from a Taylor Swift song runs through my head "I've never heard silence quite this loud" constantly. I just miss the noise of other people around. Can't imagine yet being on my own all week! Thankfully that's still a while away. So relatable though!
