I made the same rookie writer's mistake last week. *face palm* But I DID remember to pack every last thing we needed for my daughter's dance competition and my boys' two baseball games last weekend, so I've got that going for me.
Also, I learned way more than I ever wanted to know about impregnating cows. 😅
It's funny you write this because I just did that the other night. Maybe I need to place a pen & notepad on my nightstand??
And a friendly side note: I stumbled upon your Substack the other day.. My husband & I are currently searching for land in Kentucky to start a hay operation. Maybe I'll have farm stories to share in the near future. 🚜 And we've said it many a times, but if we didn't live in KY, we'd live in Montana. A beautiful part of the country you live in. I look forward to following along. 💛
Last week was very stressful with a family member declining in health and seemingly alllll the things going on. I was mentally in survival mode but was able to remember to ASK FOR HELP, and I also remembered to not feel guilty about it. People were so gracious, even if they didn’t know the whole of the situation, and miraculously nothing was forgotten.
From one farm wife to another, thank you for writing so clearly about what we do in this industry. You don’t shy away from the hard or uncomfortable parts, of which there are many. Perhaps the facts of breeding season make having “the talk” with our kids a little less awkward! 🫣😂
I'm so sorry to hear about your family member, Amy. I'm so glad you remembered to ask for help. Thinking of you all.
I often wonder if what I'm sharing is pointless, so I appreciate you telling me that. There are definitely some uncomfortable parts!! My kids see the bulls and say, "Look, Mom, a piggy back ride!" Umm... yup! 🤣
Ugh, Stacy, that forgetting story hits hard. It happened to me too this month! I was working out and almost done, so I was sure I wouldn’t forget… and then I did. 😔 I love learning about ranching, even though I am almost 100% sure I will never do it. It’s fascinating!
I love this prompt - what I remembered, what I didn't remember. I think I may have to try my hand at it.
Can’t wait to read it!!

A pen and paper on the nightstand is a great idea!!
Hi! And welcome!! Montana is really beautiful. I hope you're able to find some land to start your hay operation! Thanks for following along!
Just here to ditto the pen and paper on the bedside table! I would forget EVERYTHING without it.

Yup, the bulls are “going for a ride” or “playing”!!! LOL

Oh no! Such a bummer when we forgot those good ideas!!
“Dear reader, I did not.”😅 yes.
Also why don’t I have zinnia unicorn mix?? Thanks for this tip 😆
I got the tip from another Exhale member!! They are pricy, but the colors look fun!
